Savannah Air Center earns LSTC for high-speed data system
October 08, 2008
Savannah Air Center recently received a Limited Supplemental Type Certificate from Transport Canada for a high speed data system. The first installation was accomplished on a European-based Learjet 60 and was issued by the Department of Transport earlier this year. The high speed data installation was comprised of Chelton SATCOM System’s high gain antenna, high power amplifier, diplexer unit, satellite data unit, satellite reference unit and magnetic sensor unit. The system configuration provides a single channel of SwiftBroadband at speeds up to 432 kbps and by utilizing the Chelton SDU-7300 Satellite Data Unit with its integrated 4-port Ethernet router, the need for an external router was eliminated. With the system’s integrated GPS engine, SRU-7200 Satellite Reference Unit and MSU-7250 Magnetic Sensor Unit, the system can be operated on the ground without the need of powering up the entire aircraft avionics suite. “Savannah Air Center continues to lead the way in providing customer-focused solutions,” stated Jeff Zacharius, Savannah Air Center’s president. “The customer required greater data access during flight,” added Zacharius. “Our SwiftBroadband solution was a perfect fit and allows the customer to better manage his businesses while en route.” |
